A history that goes a long way back.

Oltremare 2.0 has a long history with the annual EAAM conference. For 2027, the park returns — this time hosted by the Maritime Museum of Cesenatico, an institution at the very origin of the human care of cetaceans in controlled environments.

A port of maritime history

A true "open-air museum" on the Romagna Riviera, Cesenatico’s Canal Port was designed by Leonardo da Vinci, who inspected it and produced two drawings in 1502.

The Dolphin Aquarium, 1959

Europe’s first dolphinarium, founded in Cesenatico. It was here that Italy’s first expertise in marine mammal biology and management took shape.

Drawn by Leonardo, 1502

Two pages of the Codex L record his survey of Cesenatico and its canal port — the earliest drawings of the harbour the symposium now gathers around.
