Who we are.
The European Association for Aquatic Mammals (EAAM) has brought together a diverse community of experts dedicated to the welfare, care, research, conservation, and education of aquatic mammals since 1972. United by a passion for marine mammalogy and a commitment to science-based practices, our members collaborate to advance knowledge and promote the highest standards of animal welfare.
By fostering research, professional development, and the exchange of expertise, the EAAM supports evidence-based decision-making that benefits both animals under professional care and their wild counterparts. We recognize the vital link between ex situ research and care with in situ conservation, using scientific knowledge and practical experience to contribute to the long-term protection of aquatic mammal species and their habitats.
Through our annual symposium, technical workshops, and professional networks, we promote scientific research, facilitate the sharing of knowledge, and provide expert guidance to organizations, professionals, and institutions concerned with aquatic mammals, whether under human care or in the wild.
